Three trade unions of Customs have urged President Maithripala Sirisena to name a permanent Director General for Customs.

A copy of this letter had been sent to Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, reports add.

Upon inquiring from the chairman of the Unions of Superintendents of Customs' - R. Lamahewa said that the department of Customs needs a permanent DG.

'Sri Lanka Mirror' also learns that Customs Officers' Union, Unions of uperintendents of Customs' and Customs Staff Officers Union have sent this letter.
