NCPA Chairperson - Natasha Balendran said that investigations on these complaints have commenced, together with legal units and police.

Although she says that it cannot be clearly stated whether child abuse has increased, Ms. Balendran stated that the number of complaints they received in the last 08 months have increased,

She also said that reasons for this increase have not been clearly identified yet.

However, violence in the Sri Lankan civil society have increased after the war, she further says.

Ms. Balendran said that programs to create awareness on child abuse have been initiated.
