Expressing dissatisfaction over the AG’s decisions with regard to the floating armoury and Kumaran Padmanathan alias KP, Citizens’ Power and Citizens’ Collective say the AG’s performance give rise to many serious issues.
KP was arrested and brought by the Army and the intelligence from Malaysia, and the cabinet and the military spokesmen at the time said they had caught the international leader of the LTTE and that there were many charges against him, including in the Rajiv Gandhi killing, said Citizen’s Front’s Saman Ratnapriya.
It is the responsibility of the CID and the intelligence to gather evidence against KP, he notes.
The establishment of Avante Garde has denied the state a major income at the rate of Rs. 15 million a day, they allege, adding that the responsibilities earlier held by the Navy had been handed over to Avant Garde and Rakna Lanka.
It is a serious offence to handover to an outsider a business from which the state had earned an income, added Ratnapriya.
