U.S. Embassy Encourages U.S. Businesses to Expand Trade and Investment

U.S. Ambassador Atul Keshap yesterday (10) briefed a visiting delegation of U.S. business executives about opportunities to expand trade and investment between the U.S. and Sri Lanka. In his remarks to the visiting executives, Ambassador Keshap urged their companies to seize the “golden moment of opportunity” in Sri Lanka, and highlighted the enormous potential for U.S. companies at a time when the Sri Lankan government has made economic growth a key priority for its tenure.

The business delegation, which was organized by AmCham India with assistance from AmCham Sri Lanka and the U.S. Embassy, included representatives of GE, Accenture, Cisco Systems, and other Fortune 500 firms, as well as smaller companies that provide cutting-edge products and services in such fields as health services and electronic design automation, and bring world-class levels of innovation, talent, technological achievement, business ethics, and environmental responsibility. In addition to meetings with potential business partners, members of the delegation also met with top government officials, including President Maithripala Sirisena.
