Leopard run over by vehicle at Yala

Leopard run over by vehicle at Yala Featured

A leopard has died after being run over by a vehicle at the Yala wildlife park.
Leopards have been named an endangered species, and less than 60 of them live at Yala.

The dead animal is a female aged around three years.

Its death was due to fatal injuries to the spinal cord.

A wildlife officer said animals are run over by speeding Safari jeeps and private vehicles, although there is a speed limit of 25 kmph inside the wildlife park.

Another obstacle is a shortage of guides, who presently number 32, although the requirement is 60.
