President Maithripala Sirisena has given his consent to appoint Chamara Sampath Dissanayake, elected to parliament from Badulla district, as chief minister of Uva provincial council, according to reports reaching 'Sri Lanka Mirror'.
He is presently a member of the Uva PC.
 
Lakshman Seneviratne, a member of the group opposed to Mahinda Rajapaksa and polled the next highest preferential votes among failed candidates, will be appointed to parliament in his place.
 
Former CM Harin Fernando gained power at the PC with the support of five UPFA members.
