The park will be thus closed due to dry climate and several other reasons.

Currently several districts including Trincomalee, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Ampara, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapuraya have been affected from the dry climate.

As a result the residents of these areas have faced a shortage of drinking water and measures have been taken to supply water by bowers.
