According to the government news portal - news.lk, Biswal's visit was initially planned to take place several weeks before but was postponed due to the Parliamentary elections.

According to the US State Department, “They plan to meet with senior government officials, political party and civil society leaders, and the private sector in the spirit of partnership that Secretary (of State, John) Kerry highlighted during his May visit.”

Ms. Biswal is expected to hold talks with with President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and External Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera.
