He says that the NFF is prepared to take up the true role of the opposition by joining with SLFP MPs opposing the National government concept.
He was responding to a journalist yesterday (21) after arriving at the FCID to give a statement.
"The SLFP tying itself to a national government will result in the leader of the TNA (which secured 16 seats in parliament) becoming the opposition leader. The Geneva report is due in late September. What will Sampanthan functioning as opposition leader mean at that juncture? It will give the TNA an official push to create a global perspective that the contents of that report is correct," he said.
"Therefore, we do not approve of this. One objective of tying the UNP and the SLFP together is appointing Sampanthan as opposition leader. This is a 'serious betrayal'. Therefore, we do not agree with the national government concept," he added.
