In a letter to President Maithripala Sirisena the senior politicians of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has mentioned that that none of them desire premiership and it should be given to Kurunegala district UPFA candidate and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa for his great effort to secure the UPFA victory in the election.
They have also expressed their gratitude for suggesting that the senior politicians are eligible for the position of Prime Minister.
The individuals mentioned in the letter by the President which were identified as eligible for premiership were W.D.J Seneviratne, Chamal Rajapaksa, Athauda Seneviratne, Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and A. H. M. Fowzie and they all have signed the letter, reports say.
