The announcement was made by UPFA General secretary - Susil Premajayantha during a media briefing in Colombo today (07).

Southern Provincial Council member Anthonige Hewa Piyasena, Uva Provincial Council members Vadivel Suresh and Harindra Dharmadasa Bandara, Western Provincial Council members Hirunika Premachandra, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe and Nirosha Athukorala have been thus removed from the party.

Mr. Premajayantha said that the decision was made as these members are contesting the upcoming Parliamentary Election from the United National Party (UNP) and independent groups, while they are still members of the UPFA.

Noting that these individuals have been informed of the party decision, Mr. Premajayantha said that Elections commissioner - Mahinda Deshapriya has been briefed on this regard as well.
