Police apologize over water attack by mistake

Police today (05) tendered an apology to medical students staging a protest in front of the World Trade Centre in Colombo over a mistaken water firing.

Marching from the Fort railway station, the students were stopped in front of the WTC by police roadblocks and water tankers.

They said they wanted to meet the secretary to the president to discuss practical training being given to students of private medical colleges.

At that moment, the driver of one water tanker fell asleep, pressed his hand on the switches and activated the water firing.

Police then apologized to the protesters.
