The surgeries were done to remove cancer from a Larynx, Pancreas, Rectum, Cervix and a Thyroid Gland.

Dr. Thewarapperuma has been assisted by his team at the Rathnapura Base Hospital : Dr. Prasad Perera, Dr. Saliya Ganepola, head of the theatre - Sister Samanmala Rajapaksa and nursing staff.
