According to the 'Sath Handa' newspaper, the report has shown that the UNP is in the lead on the electorate level.
The newspaper further reports :
Although the results from North-East regions as well as from the districts of Matale and Kegalle remain unclear, the UNP will secure around 90 seats and 12-14 National List MP seats.
The UPFA will secure 81 seats and 10-12 National List MP seats while the JVP will win 12 seats and 2-3 National List MP seats.
Also, the TNA will secure 14 seats and 2-3 National List MP seats.
The UNP and UPFA will win 09 districts each while the TNA will win 04 districts.
Foreign diplomats' view :
However, a broad research conducted by foreign embassies have revealed that there is a possibility of the UPFA, UNP and TNA securing 11, 09 and 03 districts respectively.
Meanwhile, a research conducted by a group of President's affiliates too, have tallied with the embassy research report.
According to a research done by the UPFA, the party would secure 14 districts. Speaking recently, UPFA Kurunegala candidate - Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the UPFA would secure 18 districts.
However, all these reports state that none of the two main political parties will be able to secure over 113 seats.
Around 30 seats will be secured by the JVP and the TNA while the two main parties will secure the remaining number of seats which will be around 195.
