Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has already said that a new one would replace the 1978 constitution.
Speaking to BBC Sandeshaya, minister Kariyawasam said his party would lay the groundwork for these political changes, including the 19th and the 20th amendments.
When asked as to whether the 19th amendment introduced by his government has failed to bring expected results, he said there were certain issues with regard to the adopted change, to which the many progressive changes proposed had been turned down by the opposition.
