At a media briefing at the opposition leader’s office today (26), lawyer Sagara Kariyawasam said Rajapaksa has demanded Rs. 4,500 million in damages from the five for having insulted him at the election platform.

If they fail to respond, legal action will be taken against them, he said.

Commenting on this, minister Samaraweera said that lawyers should not resort to delaying tactics by holding media briefings if they wanted to file a defamatory case.

He said it would be a victory if Rajapaksa could be brought before a court of law somehow.
