Fake war crimes report from Kurunegala!

Fake war crimes report from Kurunegala! Featured

A group loyal to ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa is planning to distribute a fake report, purportedly by the UNHRC into alleged war crimes during the final phases of the war and human rights violations in the country, intelligence has reported to the government.

‘Dinamina’ says this report is to be released in the first week of August naming nearly 50 persons, including the former president, the then defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and top military officials as war criminals.

The newspaper says this bogus report aims to target the Sinhala Buddhist voters during the election campaign of the ex-president, who is contesting from Kurunegala district.

The objective is to provoke communal feelings and attract votes of mainly families of military personnel, as Kurunegala is the home to the most number of armed forces personnel.

This anti Muslim and Sinhala bogus report will also claim a Muslim zone will be formed in the east, intelligence says further.
