They are having discussions with the former SLFP MPs, who are promoting good governance and have entered into an agreement with the UNP.
Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Kalutara district candidate for the United National Front for Good Governance, said a national government would definitely be formed after the polls.
Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that after the election, an administrative mechanism would be put in place to ensure that government was accountable to parliament for all its affairs.
Meanwhile, attempts are being made to protect the SLFP membership of those who have joined the new front, until the election is over.
A court order barred a central committee meeting convened by its general secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa to decide the revoking of party membership of Rajitha Senaratne, Arjuna Ranatunga, M.K.D.S. Gunawardena and Hirunika Premachandra.
Senaratne said even though their party memberships were cancelled, they would definitely regain them after the polls.
He noted that before the presidential election, he lost not only his SLFP membership, but also the vice president position of the party.
