The decision was taken at a special meeting held at the SLFP Headquarters earlier today (15).

However, sources from the Presidential secretariat cite that the appointment is null and void.

Also, the President has cancelled the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Committee meeting which was to be held tonight after utilising the powers vested in him by the party constitution.

Reports also say that according to the party constitution, 2/3 of the party CC should declare their assent in order to hold such a special CC meeting.
