These Hindus, who revere God Kataragama and Valli Amma, start from Okanda Devale, and walk hundreds of kms across the Kumana and Yala wildlife parks to reach Kataragama.
They consider it a great opportunity to cancel out their sins and mistakes and to seek god’s blessings.
Participating in the religious activities at Kataragama which concludes with the water cutting festival, they start their journey back to their home villages.
