Mahinda’s Rs. 9.4 m unpaid Hilton breakfast bill Featured

UNP MP Nalin Bandara has revealed that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s family had ordered breakfast worth Rs. 9.4 million from the Hilton and not paid the bill during CHOGM.

Addressing the ‘expose’ media briefing at Sirikotha, he said that former Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga had signed this order instead of Rajapaksa, and was dated 01 November 2013.

The menu included Nuwara Eliya strawberries with black and white chocolates, dehydrated Karthacolomban with black chocolate, cream cheese with cucumber sandwich, sandwich with sailfish, apple Danish, pineapple Danish, mulberry muffins.

The meal included 16 fruit varieties including bananas, orange, pears, apple, peach, grapes, guava, pineapple, passion fruit.

Maithri serves ginger biscuits and tea

However, president Maithripala Sirisena and prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe do not spent public money to throw parties at their official residences, said the MP.

Participants at meetings at the presidential secretariat are served with ginger biscuit and tea, he said.

The PM holds parties at Temple Trees at personal expense, said the UNP MP.
