President betrayed mandate - Vasudeva Featured

By giving nominations to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, President Maithripala Sirisena had betrayed the mandate he received on Jan. 08, says former minister Vasudewa Nanayakkara.

Speaking to 'BBC Sandeshaya', he added that the people's movement launched to bring back Rajapaksa had succeeded and had even received the backing of President Maithripala Sirisena.

However, President Maithripala Sirisena stated that he will not allow the ‘silent revolution’ carried out by the public on Jan. 08, to be revoked.

He had made these remarks at the event held today (04) to lay the foundation stone for the Matara - Hambantota stretch of the Southern expressway.
