BASL urges CJ not to list Abrew for court cases

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has handed over a letter to Chief Justice K. Sripavan asking him not to list Justice Sarath de Abrew to hear cases.

The BASL also asks other judges to prevail upon Justice Abrew to resign.

Supreme Court Judge Sarath De Abrew has been accused of assaulting a female maid in his domestic staff and an investigation on this regard has commenced.

A woman employed as a housemaid at the residence of the Judge, has lodged a complaint in the Mt Lavinia Magistrate's Court last week claiming that she was pistol-whipped on her head by the judge. The woman was later admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital for treatment.
