Can't ally with Mahinda's cronies - Rathana Thera Featured

Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera says that they cannot go ahead with an alliance with Mahinda Rajapaksa if the latter is planning to contest the elections together with his old cronies, under President Maithripala Sirisena.

The Thera was responding to a question by 'BBC Sandeshaya' during a media briefing in Colombo today (30).

"We are thinking how to prevent fraud and corruption. Whether Mr. Rajapaksa contests the election or not isn't what matters here. But if he is contesting together with the 'old rascals', we cannot ally themselves with them,' the Thera added.
