The project, which has been launched with the assistance of the representatives of small fisheries associations in Pambala, Chilaw area and a group of veterans of the subject, has selected 48 mangrove ecosystems for the particular project.
The preliminary activities with regard to the project has commenced by a group of professors and academics in collaboration with Pambala Small Fisheries Federation and the American Institute of Marine Science.
The main purpose of this project is to collect data on the plant and animal population related to mangrove ecosystems, develop, map and conserve mangrove ecosystems.
