President Maithripala Sirisena has firmly refused to reach any agreement with the faction of his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa for the general election, a SLFP minister told Sri Lanka Mirror.

The president has appointed a committee headed by S.B. Dissanayake to formulate a strategy for the SLFP’s election campaign.

Other members of the committee are Sarath Amunugama, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Janaka Bandara Tennakoon and Mahinda Amaraweera.

Summoning several officials loyal to him, the president advised them to start an all-out campaign against the Rajapaskas.

He will discuss the campaign with the officials once he returns to Colombo from Diyatalawa.
