It is said that this decision is reached after Mahinda Rajapaksa aides have refused to agree to a request made by President Maithripala Sirisena to scrap the no-confidence motion tabled against Finance minister Ravi Karunanayake.
The United National Party (UNP) has emphasised that the no-confidence motions tabled against minister Karunanayake and the Prime minister should be scrapped before the 20th Amendment is tabled before parliament.
This was stated by the UNP General Secretary - Kabir Hashim after joining the parliament debate on June 23.
However, Mahinda Rajapaksa aides have emphasised that the no confidence motion against the Finance Minister must be taken up.
Meanwhile, speaking during a media briefing yesterday (25) cabinet spokesman - minister Rajitha Senaratne has said that Parliament will not be dissolved until the 20th Amendment is passed.
