Making submissions to the Colombo magistrate’s court, OIC of the CID’s special investigation division Nishantha de Silva said their investigations point to Lt. Commander Sampath Munasinghe being responsible for a total of 11 abductions in Colombo.
National identity cards and passports of these missing persons had been found from Munasinghe’s room, while the men had been detained at underground cells at the Colombo and Trincomalee Navy camps.
Munasinghe and his gang had demanded ransoms of Rs. 10 million from each of the families of the abducted youths, said the CID officer.
While being cross examined, he also said Karannagoda had known about these abductions, as Munasinghe and others could not have carried them out without his knowledge.
The next hearing was fixed for July 14, BBC Sandeshaya reports.
