The members of Joint Union of Unemployed Graduates and Center for Graduates, who raised their concerns over the irregularities in recruiting graduates for available vacancies, marched to the Ministry of Finance and presented their issues to the Secretary to the Ministry.

According to the protesters there are nearly 20,000 unemployed graduates in Sri Lanka and no measure has been taken to provide employment opportunities for them since 31 March 2012.

They further state that despite requests made over a long period of time to establish a national policy to provide employment for graduates annually, no measure has been taken so far with regard to it.
