At a media briefing yesteday, BBS CEO Dilanthe Withanage said this was essential to help towards achieving national development and reconciliation.
He noted however, that at the same time national security should be given priority consideration.
Withanage warned that when attempts are being made to resolve the ethnic issue, the diaspora has become a problem for some, which could lead to a major issue.
He went onto say that the diaspora should be part of the solution, adding that the Global Tamil Forum alone is not the Tamil diaspora, while the BBS is not the only representative of Sinhala Buddhists.
The BBS CEO said that their interactions with the average Tamil citizens have confirmed that the Tamil diaspora as well as Tamil and other politicians have forgotten the Tamil people.
He stressed that the foreign affairs minister should initiate a dialogue with Sinhala Buddhist forces as well.
The BBS will once again be accused of being party to international conspiracies and being recipients of foreign funding after this media briefing, he added.
