Finance ministry ordered to halt ads to Asian Mirror Featured

The National Lotteries Board has halted granting advertisements to Asian Mirror website on an order by the finance ministry, said NLB chairperson, lawyer Shermila Perera.

She said this in response to a question raised by Sri Lanka Mirror.

Meanwhile, Mobitel too, has been told to stop giving its advertisements to Asian Mirror.

When contacted, Sri Lanka Telecom CE Dileepa Wijesundara would not give an answer, saying that he was at a meeting.

Attempts to reach Mobitel CEO Ranjith G. Rubasinghe were unsuccessful.

The owner of the Asian Mirror website is Krishantha Sanjeewa Hiswella, the media director at Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.

There is speculation that the reason for the withdrawal of the advertisement is that the website had made a live webcast of the recent rally in Matara to demand Mahinda Rajapaksa to be named the prime ministerial candidate.
