Former DIG Vass Gunewardena and four others who were in remand custody over the Mohomad Shiyam murder case have been granted bail by the Colombo High Court.

The suspects, charged of murdering businessman - Mohomad Shiyam, were held in remand custody for 02 years after being denied bail.

However, Vass Gunewardena will be compelled to remain in remand custody over several other charges including possessing a firearm in an illegal manner.
