The association of retired police officers and many others have complained to the commission that Karuna Amman was responsible for the murder of 600 policemen in Ampara in 1990.

He was similarly accused at investigations by the LLRC, but has rejected the accusations.

Karuna Amman recently participated in the Matara rally demanding the naming of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa as the prime ministerial candidate.
