Approval for the three civilian members of the constitutional council is still to be given as their letters of consent have not been obtained as yet, it was revealed at the recent meeting of party leaders.

The nominees are Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, Dr. Radhika Coomarswamy and A.W.A. Salam.

It was with the intention of getting their names approved that parliament met in emergency session on June 03.

When Dinesh Gunwardena inquired from the prime minister at the party leaders’ meeting, their consent had not been obtained.
