Vithya’s family shifts to Vavuniya for safety

The members of the family of slain student Vithya Sivaloganathan of Punguduthivu MahaVidyalaya, Jaffna, who was abducted, gang raped and murdered, are preparing to flee Punguduthivu for safety.

Vithya's mother Saraswathie Sivaloganathan has said that they had decided to resettle in Vavuniya among their relations for their own safety because the families of the suspects connected to her daughter's brutal rape and murder live close to their home in Punguduthivu.

She has said she will leave for Vavuniya soon after completing the final religious rites for Vithya, to ensure the safety of her other two children and her husband.

She explained that they must remain for a period of 45 days from the day of the killing, in the house in which Vithya lived, and would leave for Vavuniya immediately after.
