Ninety-nine percent of such cases have been filed by the wives in order to secure maintenance of children, the LAC says.

Most of these wives seeking the LAC aid are aged 18 - 35, reports say.

Men too can seek legal assistance at the LAC in cases of the wife having an extramarital affair or malicious separation. However, the percentage of a man lodging a case remains at one percent.

According to reports, it has been proven that most cases have ended in divorce after entering matrimony without a proper understanding of the responsibilities and duties of married life.
