Before resigning, Dilan Perera has conveyed his intention to President Maithripala Sirisena, who in return has said that there is no problem if the former's decision is a democratic one.

Above sources quote the President as to saying 'It is ok if you leave I have no problem."

However, it is said that attempts made by the resigned ministers to contact the president have also become fruitless.

It is said that former ministers Bandula Gunewardena, Kumara Welgama and Dulles Alahapperuma have played a large part in the plan to make these ministers resign.
