The Speaker has made this reference in connection with the no confidence motion presented by opposition parliamentarians against the Governor.

Rajapaksa has directed the parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) to probe the allegations against Mahendran and present a report within two weeks.

The Speaker has said the report can then be used to have a debate in Parliament on the Central Bank Governor.

Mahendran is accused of being involved in insider trading in the recent Treasury bond issue.
