Patients are severely inconvenienced due to an acute shortage of essential drugs at state hospitals and even private pharmacies.

Glyceryl trinitrate for heart patients has been in short supply for some time now.

Certain pharmacies issue the drug to patients at five tablets per person only.

Verapamil for high blood pressure, carbamazepine for epilepsy, omiprasole for gastritis, famotadine, esoprasole and metformin for diabetes and ISMN and SDN for heart patients too, are not available at hospitals.
