Weerawans had constructed six super luxury houses at public expense and given them to five of his closest relatives and to a media officer of former first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
The expenditure for the handing over ceremony alone was Rs. 6.9 million, said Ocean View Development in a statement.
These houses at Mattegoda and Kahatuduwa had been built at a cost of Rs. 71 million, but given to his relatives at very low prices.
Weerawansa had also spent Rs.14 m from the housing fund for the printing of 20,000 diaries and 25,000 calendars.
Also, he had recruited 12 persons as promotion officers and used them for his political activities, and paid them Rs. 60 m a year.
