The agriculture sector is accordingly expected to be developed in several stages with 2025 being the target of achievement.

Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake said the policy will focus on addressing many long standing issues faced by the sector, promote e-agriculture and agri-market development.

He said the Ministry will also release shortly a five year action plan as part of the short to midterm strategy at developing the sector. Dissanayake observed that farmers will be made an empowered community when the policy is implemented.
