SLRC faces 200m fraud! Featured

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has concluded an investigation pertaining to a financial irregularity of nearly Rs. 200m at the marketing division of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) while broadcasting campaign commercials of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, reports say.

The perpetrators are to be sued soon.

The CIABOC is also probing into an irregularity amounting Rs. 6.5 million while broadcasting the SLRC channel from Italy via satellite television.

The CIABOC has already sought legal redress against former media minister - Keheliya Rambukwella, former SLRC chairman - Wimal Rubasinghe and former DG Chandrapala Liyanage over charges of misusing 600 G.I. pipes amounting to Rs. 9,90,000.

CIABOC investigations are also being held over reports submitted by the committee tasked with looking into the irregularities and corruption that has allegedly taken place at the SLRC during the Rajapaksa regime.
