Regulations for National Drug Policy still pending Featured

Although two months have elapsed since the National Drug Policy was passed in Parliament, related laws and regulations are yet to be formulated, the Society of Government Pharmacists charge.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', secretary of the Society of Government Pharmacists, Ajith Tilakaratne said that despite the National Drug Policy being passed in Parliament, it has become just another dossier.

In order to put the Policy to action, an authority should be set up and officials appointed, he added.

Tilakaratne added that the level of enthusiasm that existed to pass the Bill does not exist with regard to implementing it.

He concluded that the country is yet to receive any benefit from the passed National Drug Policy.
