The US delegation of 35 delegates arrived at the Katunayaka Bandaranaike International Airport at 8.00am today.
Kerry's visit follows an invitation extended by Sri Lankan minister of Foreign Affairs - Mangala Samaraweera.
While this is Kerry’s first visit to the island, it is also be the first time a US Secretary of the State will step foot in the island since 2005.
John Kerry is set to hold discussions with government and opposition leaders, as well as with members of civil societies.
During his visit, the US Secretary of State will also participate in Vesak celebrations.
