Vaas was appointed to the post on Feb. 20, 2014 for a year's time and his contract ended while the Sri Lankan team was contesting in the Cricket World Cup.
However, the previous SLC administration decided to extend the contract to April 30.
On April 29, the SLC Interim committee held a discussion with Vaas to further extend his contract.
There, it was suggested to demote Vaas from his post as national fast bowling coach and to task him with coaching junior players and to reduce his pay by Rs. 400,000.
In this backdrop, Vaas has tendered his resignation.
Talebearers
However, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns that the SLC interim committee has behaved thus after lending an ear to Anusha Samaranayake who expects the post for himself and due to the tales of National coach Marvan Atapattu.
