Sacred relics of Lord Buddha arrive in SL

Sacred relics of Lord Buddha accompanied by a delegation of monks headed by the Ven. U Nayana Wun arrived in Sri Lanka from Myanmar early this morning (30).

Foreign minister Mangala Samaraweera received the sacred relics, which were housed in the Mandalay Museum in Myanmar.

The relics are to remain in Sri Lanka over the Vesak period and will be open to the public at 19 locations across the country.

This is the second time in history that the relics have been accompanied abroad and are thus a rare opportunity for the Buddhists of Sri Lanka to view the relics.
