It is suspected that many of the disappeared persons are being detained at the above locations.
The decision was announced by the minister during a meeting with the disappeared persons’ relatives.
The meeting was organised by a collective of disappeared persons’ relatives.
Speaking to ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ on this regard, convener of the collective - Brito Fernando said, “There is clear evidence pointing that many a disappeared person is alive. After presenting these evidence, we urged authorities to allow this opportunity.”
“This is a humane issue. These people are going through a living death waiting for their loved ones to return. This opportunity would be used to the full to find the disappeared persons who are evidently alive,” he added.
