The rape and abuse of women is highly prevalent in India and perhaps the reason for this is something deeper, something that starts in the homes, argues a video released this month to YouTube.
The video titled 'My Family Raped Me' is hitting the internet by storm for its boldness in questioning whether the seeds for the prevalence of rape are in fact sown in families through the warped mindset that is ingrained in the society.
The video concludes with the final statement.“I get raped everyday, several times by thoughts, by words, by looks. I try to see their faces, but I can’t see them. I can only see my family.”
The video was written and directed by Pooja Relan and it casts Melissa Thomas.
