The Western province provincial councilor and the leader of Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, Udaya Gammanpila has stated that the distorting the national flag, which is an official national symbol, was a severe fault and that he regrets holding it

He has made these comments when the BBC Sandeshaya inquired about certain individuals holding a distorted national flag at the protest staged to support Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as he visited the Bribery Commission.

The national flags held by certain individuals did not include the two colour stripes in the original flag which represents the minor ethnicities.

The leader of Pivithuru Hele Urumaya stated that those flags were exhibited by a group of individuals attached to non-governmental organization and that he did not invite them.

Dullas apologizes

Meanwhile, at a media briefing held yesterday (24) in Colombo the former Minister Dullas Alahapperuwa publically apologized for using a distorted national flags in the protest staged in front of the Bribery Commission.
