He has thus been denied of running for the election as a complaint against him has been lodged at the Sports Council yesterday (20).

That complaint reads that though Harin Fernando should obtain the permission of the Sports Minister before submitting the nominations, he has obtained it yesterday (20).

The submitting of nominations to the AASL ended on 15 April.

The election of AASL is scheduled to be held on 14 May and apart from Harin two other names have been submitted for the position.

They are veteran athlete, who has won a number of international medals, Sugath Thilakaratne and retired police officer Upali Kumarasiri.
